Project of the week is a Plastic Glass Lens Plate originally made from 1060 Aluminum alloy and Acrylic. This part is roughly 5" x 4" x 3/8" and is used in an outdoor environment. This part is used to hold a convex glass lens that will attach and seal to a separate enclosure. We are tasked with producing 250 pcs in structural plastics like Polycarbonate, HDPE, and Marine Board for the underwater version of this product.
End Mills, Chamfer Mills, Countersinks and Bull Mills will be solid carbide from Harvey Tool with standard High-Speed Drills for the bores. All fixturing will be made from Mic6 Aluminum Tool Plate. Part tolerance is +/- 0.020 and a machine finish with lightly sanded edges is fine for this part. The rear sealing face will use a soft gasket and will be finished to 63 Ra. The round lens face requires an O-ring which will also be finished to 63 Ra or better since it will be a liquid seal. These areas must be checked for deep scratches before and after machining. Not a bad project to start this week of 07/25/22. We would like again to thank our customers for allowing us to share our projects with people who value the manufacturing talent that is out there...
